Hard to believe it, but as of this coming week — July 6 through 10 — we’re celebrating a full year since The Skillery leapt out of the virtual world and into the real one, opening the doors to our Germantown coworking and learning space.
Our roots trace back to 2011, when we started wrangling and promoting offline classes with our online home. But in 2014, we realized a years-brewing dream of having our own place — a space designed to help entrepreneurs grow, and host classes and events that promote fun (and productive) learning, along with the broad mix of homegrown brands in Nashville.
A year ago today, we were putting together chairs and sanding and staining tables, filling snack jars and concocting plans.
Today, almost 100 members, along with partners and friends, work and create inside our walls day after day.
We’re proud, and we’re humbled. We’re also really excited to see what year two brings.
To celebrate our first birthday, we’ve set up a week of fun stuff for all Skillery members, and we’re also extending an invitation to those of you who haven’t joined our team yet.
Open to the public:
Any day July 6 through 10, you’re invited for a free day of coworking in our space (1323 6th Avenue North, in Germantown), 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Just come by and sign in with our helpful and friendly concierge, Michaela, and she’ll set you up with a wifi login and answer any questions you might have. If you feel like testing us out a little longer, we offer weeklong trial memberships for $50, and if you decide to stick around, that comes off your first month’s fees.
For The Skillery members:
Come join us all week, regardless of your membership level, and cowork all you like — just talk to Michaela and sign in, and she’ll set you up accordingly.
Monday, July 6:
Drop by our neighbors Steadfast Coffee and enjoy a beverage of your choice, our treat. Michaela will give you the secret password.
Tuesday, July 7:
Pop-up meal providers and CO.STARTERS at The Skillery grads Sifted will be by with breakfast! Members can grab fresh-pressed pineapple, mango, orange and carrot juice, banana walnut breakfast bars, greek yogurt with lemon curd and fresh fruit and granola, from 8 to 10 a.m. Do the most important meal of the day right, on us. (Talk to Michaela, the gatekeeper of all things fun at The Skillery.)
Wednesday, July 8:
We’re fighting the afternoon nap urges with sugar. Namely: delicious cupcakes from Sweet 16th Bakery.
Thursday, July 9:
We’re winding down the week with some serious relaxation fodder — we’ll have chair massages onsite starting at 2 p.m. from a certified massage therapist. Massages will be in 15-minute slots — visit Michaela at the front desk before Thursday to sign up for yours.
Friday, July 10:
To cap off our birthday week, we’re inviting our members to celebrate with happy hour at Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint in the neighborhood, and the first beer is on us. Talk to Michaela by Tuesday so we can raise a glass together to a productive and fun year, and a food- and relaxation-filled week.
To everyone who’s contributed to The Skillery’s first year open — members, partners, teachers, students, friends and supporters — we want to express huge thanks, huge love, and huge high-fives for many more years of cheering on the Nashville entrepreneur community.
