As we move into 2015, we've made a few (positive, we think) changes to what we do and how we do things at The Skillery — including, as you can see, this new website. Among those changes:
- Easier class registration.
We've simplified the process of registering for a class. No more need to login, and no more dependence on PayPal.
More than 40 percent of our site traffic in 2014 came from a mobile device or tablet, so our new site is now phone and phablet phriendly. Give us a try from your mobile device and let us know what you think.
24/7 access to our space.
We're adding a new perk as an add-on for our members: all-day, all-night access to our Germantown space. For $50/month, you'll get a key fob and the freedom to set your own Skillery hours. Our traditional 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (8 to 4 on Friday) weekday hours will still apply to members without key-fob access.
Improvements for teachers.
If you're a Skillery teacher, you'll enjoy a simplified class listing process. And we've added one of our most requested features: payment options that include check and (coming soon) direct deposit.
A new blog.
Right now, you're reading a post on the new Skillery blog, which, going forward, will be a place for us to share happenings and events, offer a look into the work and lives of our growing crew of members and share updates about our community. We're looking forward to being able to shine a brighter light on the incredible things our members and friends are doing, from launching new businesses and growing existing ones to earning big press praise.
The Skillery is many things, but, first and foremost, it's a community of terrific people. We've added a Membership Directory to spotlight the creative geniuses who call The Skillery home.
A new ticketing partner.
We've integrated our site with Eventbrite's ticketing platform, making registration easier for students and broadening exposure for teachers. Teaming with Eventbrite allows us to eliminate steps from the registration process, including the need for a visitor to sign in to our system before registering. Visit our classes page to check it out.
We have lots more to come in the coming weeks and months. If you'd like to learn more/chat about what we're doing, you're always welcome and encouraged to stop by our space to get a tour, look around and talk with staff and members. We also have a new FAQ that has answers to a lot of questions you may have about us. Anything else you're wondering about, please reach out — we'd love to hear from you.
